Online Fraud & Scam Prevention

Identifying online fraud indicators, UPI payment scams, phishing links, and deceptive social engineering tactics.

Digital payments and e-commerce transactions have grown exponentially in India. This module trains students and community members to spot the psychological triggers behind fraudulent requests, deceptive banking calls, fake parcel SMS notifications, and lottery scams.

Key Focus Modules
  • UPI QR code payment traps: Scanning receives vs sending money
  • Phishing URLs, fraudulent payment gateways, and domain typosquatting
  • Social engineering schemes: Urgent calls, impostor bank executives, and job scams
  • Immediate incident response: Helpline 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in
Everyday Practical Rules
  • Never enter your UPI PIN to receive money. A PIN is required solely to transfer money out.
  • Scrutinize SMS links carefully. Banks in India never send link requests to unblock frozen accounts.
